The Ghana Police Service apprehended three suspects following a violent robbery targeting a mobile money vendor on February 3 in Kasoa. According to a Citi Newsroom report the suspects were tracked after an intensive intelligence operation led by the Central Regional Police Command. The identity of the suspects has not been publicly released by authorities at this stage of the investigation.
A report from MyJoyOnline indicates that the suspects allegedly used dangerous weapons to threaten the vendor before making away with an undisclosed sum of money. Police officials confirmed that a portion of the stolen cash was retrieved during the arrest. This recovery is currently being held as evidence according to statements from local investigators.
As reported by Graphic Online the police also seized firearms and ammunition believed to have been used during the commission of the crime. The weapons are undergoing forensic examination to determine if they are linked to other unresolved criminal activities within the Kasoa municipality. The suspects are being held on charges related to conspiracy and robbery.
The Ghana Police Service maintains that the investigation remains active as they work to identify any additional accomplices. While the source Citi Newsroom initially broke the story regarding the arrests the police have urged the public to provide any information that could assist in the successful prosecution of the case. All three suspects are presumed innocent until their guilt is proven in a court of law.
