The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a young man identified as Owusu Innocent, following the alleged killing of his father at Likpe Abrani in the Oti Region. The deceased has been named as Peter Owusu.
According to information from family members and preliminary police accounts, the incident is alleged to have involved extreme violence, including the severing of the victim’s head. The circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive remain unclear. Police say they are treating the matter as a homicide and have begun investigations to establish what led to the killing.
Authorities state that Owusu Innocent fled the area after the incident and is currently on the run. His whereabouts are unknown, and police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest him so that he can be questioned and, if appropriate, charged in accordance with the law.
Police and family members have jointly appealed to the public to assist with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. The police have urged anyone who knows his location or has relevant information to report to the nearest police station or contact law enforcement through established channels.
At this stage, police have not released details about when the incident occurred or whether any items were recovered from the scene. They have also cautioned the public against speculation, stressing that the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
