A middle aged man lost his life following a mob attack in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East Region. MyJoyOnline reports that the incident occurred in the community of Busunya after residents allegedly caught the individual attempting to break into a local shop during the night. The victim was reportedly subjected to severe physical assault before police could intervene at the scene.

The Nkoranza North District Police Command has confirmed the death and transitioned the case into a formal homicide investigation according to local news reports. Officers recovered the body from the scene and deposited it at a hospital morgue for autopsy and identification. Adom News reports that the identity of the deceased remains unknown as he did not have any identification documents on his person at the time of the incident.

Witnesses told GhanaWeb that the mob was provoked by a recent surge in petty theft and burglaries within the Busunya township. The residents claimed they moved to take action when they heard noises coming from a container shop. Police officials have condemned the act of instant justice and reminded the public that such actions constitute a serious criminal offense under Ghanaian law.

As of the time of reporting no arrests have been made in connection with the lynching. The Ghana Police Service statement emphasized that investigators are currently gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses to identify those who led the attack. Authorities are urging the public to report criminal suspects to the nearest police station rather than taking the law into their own hands.
