A 45-year-old man has been taken into police custody in the Central Region following the death of a 50-year-old woman, identified only as Habiba. The incident occurred at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Gomoa East District.

Preliminary information gathered by GhanaCrimes indicates that the deceased was en route to purchase fresh cow milk from a nearby ranch, situated close to the market area, when the tragic event unfolded.

According to police sources, the suspect allegedly made sexual advances towards the woman, which she reportedly refused. This refusal is said to have led to an altercation, during which the suspect is alleged to have strangled her.

The woman was later discovered unresponsive, prompting a report to the police. Officers who responded to the scene confirmed her death and subsequently transported the body to a medical facility for preservation and a post-mortem examination.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after and is currently assisting investigators with their inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding Habiba's death.
