Members of the Ghana Police Service arrested two men suspected of involvement in armed robbery operations within the Kumasi metropolitan area. According to a Ghana Police Service statement the apprehension occurred following a high speed pursuit through the streets of the Ashanti Regional capital.
The operation began when police intelligence units flagged a suspicious vehicle believed to be connected to prior criminal activities. Reports from Citi Newsroom indicate that the tactical teams coordinated with local patrols to intercept the suspects before they could execute a planned robbery.
During the pursuit the suspects allegedly attempted to evade law enforcement by driving through congested areas. A Joy News report states that the police successfully immobilized the vehicle without any reported injuries to bystanders or officers involved in the chase.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that a preliminary search of the vehicle yielded items of interest which are currently being processed as evidence. Details regarding the specific identities of the suspects have not been fully disclosed to the public pending further investigative procedures.
As noted in a Daily Graphic report the individuals are expected to be processed for court once the regional Criminal Investigation Department completes its initial inquiry. The police have urged residents of Kumasi to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the emergency hotlines.
While the Ghana Police Service has linked the pair to a series of recent robberies the suspects maintain the presumption of innocence until a court of competent jurisdiction determines otherwise. Investigations remain active to identify potential accomplices who may still be at large.
