Members of the Ghana Police Service have initiated a search for three unidentified men accused of conducting an armed robbery at a mobile money vendor location in Kasoa. According to reports from MyJoyOnline and Citi Newsroom the incident occurred during daylight hours when the suspects approached the stall and fired weapons to intimidate onlookers and the operator.
Official statements from the regional police command indicate that the suspects fled the scene with over fifty thousand Ghana Cedis in cash. Graphic Online reports that the armed men arrived on an unregistered motorcycle which was used as their primary getaway vehicle following the exchange. The victim was an agent who sustained injuries during the confrontation per sources at the scene.
First responders transported the wounded agent to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Hospital officials have not released a public statement regarding the current condition of the victim though MyJoyOnline reports the individual is receiving intensive care. Crime scene investigators have collected several shell casings from the area to assist in the ongoing forensic examination.
The Ghana Police Service has urged residents of Kasoa and surrounding communities to provide any information that might lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
