A suspect in the Kandau murders has died after being arrested. Abu Tijani, also known as Master One, was 35 years old.
Tijani died on Saturday, July 25, 2026. This happened just hours after police took him into custody. He was arrested as part of the investigation into the deaths of two young people in Kandau.
The killings occurred on November 23, 2025. The Upper West Regional Police Command confirmed Tijani's death.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau has started an investigation. They are looking into how Tijani died while in police custody.
Tijani was identified as a youth leader in the Wech community.
