The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with a robbery incident that occurred at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region on December 7, 2025.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit in Kumasi on January 28, 2026, the suspects were apprehended on January 21, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. The operation was a collaborative effort between personnel from the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi and officers from the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate at Police Headquarters in Accra.
Police identified the suspects as Yahaya Siedu, also known as Diamond, aged 34; Atta Israel, also known as Abode3 or Stone, aged 32; Victor Gyan, also known as City Boy, aged 26; and Stanley Wiafe Akanten, also known as Figo, aged 30.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the four men are suspected members of a criminal syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of robbery attacks in Kunsu and its surrounding communities. Police indicate that the group allegedly targeted miners and other residents for cash, gold concentrate, and personal valuables.
A search conducted in the room of Yahaya Siedu led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, twenty-two BB cartridges, and an amount of GH¢5,400. One of the firearms, identified as a Pardus shotgun, was confirmed to have been stolen during the December 7 robbery along the Kunsu–Mankranso road.
Police state that the suspects have admitted to conspiring to carry out robberies in the area. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
