The Central Regional Police Command has detained a thirty five year old man in Cape Coast after he was allegedly found in possession of human remains. According to a Modern Ghana report the suspect was apprehended following a tip off that led officers to his location where the discovery was made. The identity of the suspect has not been publicly released by the Ghana Police Service as preliminary investigations continue.
A report from GhanaWeb indicates that the remains consisted of skeletal parts found in the suspect's residence. Local residents expressed shock at the incident which has raised concerns regarding ritualistic crimes in the regional capital. The police have cordoned off the scene to allow forensic experts to conduct a thorough examination of the area and the recovered items.
Authorities have not yet established a formal link to a specific ritual murder but are treating the case as a potential homicide. A Citi Newsroom report states that the suspect is currently being held at the regional police headquarters for interrogation. Investigators believe the suspect may be part of a larger syndicate but this detail remains unconfirmed by official police statements.
The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to remain calm while they verify the origin of the remains and check missing person records. A spokesperson for the Central Region Police mentioned that the suspect will be processed for court once the initial phase of the inquiry is complete. No charges have been officially filed as of the time of this publication according to the Daily Graphic.
