An elected official was shot by robbers in Agona Asafo. Ishmael Odoom, who serves as the Assembly Member for the Agona Asafo Electoral Area, was attacked on Thursday evening.
The robbery happened around 5:30 p.m. at a location known as Me Na Ye Junction. Mr. Odoom was with a friend when the armed individuals approached them.
The robbers demanded cash from Mr. Odoom and his companion. They took an unspecified amount of money from the victims.
During the robbery, the assailants shot Mr. Odoom. He sustained a gunshot wound and is in critical condition.
Mr. Odoom was rushed for medical attention. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
The Ghana Police Service has been notified of the incident. An investigation into the shooting and robbery is underway.
Authorities are seeking information from the public to help identify and apprehend the suspects.
