Police in the Ashanti South region have killed two suspected armed robbers. This happened during an operation on the Obuasi Dunkwa Highway.

The suspects were part of a gang that was active in the area. They were confronted by police officers.

During the engagement, two of the suspects were shot. They later died from their injuries.

The Ashanti South Police Command also arrested some other individuals believed to be part of the robbery gang.

Authorities recovered a Toyota saloon car from the scene. Guns and other ammunition were also seized.

The Ashanti Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaabah, shared these details. He spoke at a media briefing in Bekwai.

The briefing took place on March 10, 2026. He stated that the police operation was aimed at curbing robbery activities on the highway.

Further investigations are reportedly underway. The police aim to ensure the safety of commuters on the highway.
