Police in the Ashanti South region have shot and killed two individuals suspected of being armed robbers. The incident occurred as police were carrying out an operation targeting a gang active on the Obuasi Dunkwa Highway.
During the operation, police also succeeded in arresting several other individuals believed to be part of the robbery gang.
A Toyota saloon car, along with firearms and ammunition, were recovered from the suspects.
The Ashanti South Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaabah, confirmed the details during a media briefing held in Bekwai.
The briefing took place on March 10, 2026.
This action is part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to combat armed robbery in the region.
Further investigations into the gang's activities are being conducted by the police.
