Police officers in Ashanti South have shot and killed two suspected armed robbers. The incident occurred as the suspects were allegedly operating on the Obuasi-Dunkwa Highway.

The police command also managed to arrest some other individuals believed to be part of the robbery gang.

During the operation, authorities seized a Toyota saloon car. Guns and ammunition were also found and taken by the police.

The Ashanti South Police Command confirmed the killings and arrests at a media briefing. The briefing took place on March 10, 2026, in Bekwai.

The Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaabah, addressed the press about the operation. He provided details on the suspects and the items recovered.

The suspects were described as armed robbers who were actively engaged in criminal activities. The highway is a known route for transport.

The police stated that the operation was successful in stopping further criminal acts. The seized items will be used as evidence.
