Tragedy has struck at a galamsey pit in Manso Kaneago, Ashanti Region, where seven bodies have been retrieved following a collapse. Eight individuals were initially reported trapped in the pit.
The incident occurred at an illegal mining site, commonly known as galamsey operations, which are prevalent in parts of the Ashanti Region. Rescue efforts are ongoing to ascertain the status of the remaining individual and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
