Ten people have been arrested for illegal mining. The arrests happened in Kpali, near Gbinyiri. This area is in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.

The operation was carried out by a team from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat. They worked with soldiers from the Ghana Army’s Northern Command and officers from the Ghana Police Service.

These arrests followed a period of observation and planning. The operation took place over three days, from August 25 to August 27, 2026.

Illegal mining, often called galamsey, is a serious problem in Ghana. It damages the environment and can be dangerous.
