The Ghana Police Service's Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) reported over 8,000 road crashes nationwide. This happened up to the end of July 2026.

Thousands of people have lost their lives or suffered injuries in these incidents. The MTTD has not provided exact numbers for fatalities and injuries.

Director of Research, Education and Training at the MTTD spoke about the issue. He warned drivers against speeding.

Speeding is a major factor contributing to the high number of crashes. The MTTD is urging all road users to be more careful.

The department is working to reduce road accidents. They are reminding drivers of the importance of following traffic laws.
