Metro Mass Transit Limited wants government security forces to help them get back their bus yard at Opera Square in Accra. The company needs the space to prepare for new buses.
Haruna Apaw-Wiredu, the Deputy Managing Director for Operations and Technical at Metro Mass Transit, said this on Friday. He appealed directly to the state security agencies.
The yard is needed for 300 new buses that the company expects to receive. These new buses will help improve public transport services.
The current situation at Opera Square prevents Metro Mass Transit from using the space effectively. The appeal highlights the urgent need for the yard to be cleared.
This move is aimed at ensuring the company is ready to deploy the new fleet of buses once they arrive.
The government agencies are expected to ensure the safe and orderly reclamation of the transport facility.
