Accra Metropolitan Assembly officials arrested a coconut seller on July 29, 2026. The man was using a bus stop on Professor John Evans Atta Mills High Street as his trading and storage area.
The enforcement team apprehended the 46-year-old trader, identified as Emmanuel Awotwi. He had reportedly stored more than 500 coconuts at the bus stop.
The bus stop is located near the Arts Centre, a busy area in Accra.
Using public spaces for trade and storage is against city bylaws.
AMA officials are working to keep public walkways clear for pedestrians.
