Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party NPP, wants to become the national chairman.
He recently spoke to NPP leaders in the Western Region. Mr. Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, told them to look for candidates who are good at their jobs and understand the party's supporters.
He suggested that being able to speak very formal English should not be the main thing people look for in a leader.
The chairman believes that a leader's connection to the people at the community level is more important.
He has been the Ashanti Regional Chairman for three terms.
This message is part of his campaign to gain support from delegates across the country.
The delegates will vote for the next national chairman of the NPP.
