The top official for counterterrorism in the United States has resigned from his position. This official cited strong disagreement with a possible war in Iran as the reason for leaving.

The official, Joe Kent, urged the president to reconsider the approach to Iran. He voiced these concerns in a letter made public.

Kent stated that Iran did not present any immediate danger to the United States. He believes going to war with Iran would be a mistake.
