The Ghana Police Service has arrested and remanded twin brothers, Atta Kofi and Ebi Wom, in connection with the death of a 34-year-old man at Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The suspects were arraigned before a court and charged with murder. They have been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear in court on February 9, 2026, to allow investigators to complete their work.
The deceased has been identified as Theophilus Gyamfi, popularly known in the community as Kwasi KK. Preliminary police information indicates that the incident occurred following a confrontation at a river in the community.
According to investigators, Gyamfi had gone to the river to wash material described by residents as gold. One of the suspects allegedly confronted him, cautioning that the activity was polluting the water source. Police say an argument ensued after Gyamfi reportedly refused to stop.
The situation escalated when the second twin allegedly joined the confrontation. Police allege that the dispute turned violent, resulting in Gyamfi being severely assaulted during the altercation.
Following the incident, the injured man was taken home, where initial efforts were made to treat him. His condition later worsened, and relatives rushed him to the Juaboso Government Hospital. He was pronounced dead on the way to the facility, according to police accounts.
Investigators say the suspects fled the community shortly after the incident but were later arrested and brought back to assist with investigations. The body of the deceased has been preserved for autopsy as part of the ongoing inquiry.
