Senegal's parliament has approved a new law. This law increases the maximum prison sentence for same-sex sexual acts. It can now be up to 10 years.
The new legislation also makes it a crime to promote homosexuality. This means spreading information about it is illegal.
A total of 135 members of parliament voted in favour of the law. No one voted against it, and three members abstained.
The bill will now go to the president. He must sign it into law for it to take effect.
Rights groups have raised concerns about this new law. They worry about the impact on human rights in Senegal.
