The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has launched a new charging price for electric vehicles for commercial use. This is part of a wider update of electricity and water prices.

The new rate means that each kilowatt-hour of electricity used to charge an electric vehicle will cost 201.6 Ghana pesewas. This equals GH¢2.016.

Companies that operate charging stations will also have to pay a monthly service fee. This fee is set at GH¢500.

This new tariff structure aims to regulate the growing use of electric vehicles in Ghana. It provides a clear price for electricity consumed by EVs.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission stated that this change is a step towards supporting sustainable transportation options.

The commission is responsible for setting prices for utilities like electricity and water across Ghana.

This decision affects businesses and individuals who use or plan to use electric vehicles for commercial purposes.

Further details on the implementation of this new tariff will be made available by the commission.
