The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has criticized the government for reducing the producer price of cocoa.
Dr. Asamoah stated that the government should have established a special support fund for cocoa farmers. He argued this would have been a better approach than lowering their earnings.
The legislator described the price reduction as a betrayal of farmers. He said these farmers had supported the ruling administration based on campaign promises.
He believes the government's action does not reflect the support received from the farming community.
