The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has voiced strong disagreement with the government’s decision to lower the producer price for cocoa. He described the move as a betrayal to farmers who had supported the current administration.

According to Dr. Asamoah, the government’s actions do not align with promises made to these farmers during election campaigns. He suggested an alternative approach.

Dr. Asamoah proposed that instead of reducing the price paid to farmers, the government could have implemented a special support fund. This fund would have provided financial assistance directly to the cocoa farmers.

He highlighted the importance of cocoa farmers to the nation's economy. Their support was crucial for the ruling party’s electoral success.

Dr. Asamoah believes a support fund would have been a more beneficial and ethical option. It would show appreciation for the farmers’ contributions and loyalty.
