The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has spoken out against the government's decision to lower the price paid to cocoa farmers. He believes this action by the government was a mistake.
Dr. Asamoah suggested that the government could have established a special support fund for these farmers. This fund would have helped them and shown the government's commitment.
The MP stated that farmers supported the ruling party because of promises made during election campaigns. He feels the decision to cut the producer price is a betrayal of that trust.
He expressed his views on the matter, arguing for alternative support mechanisms for the farmers. The government has not yet responded to his statements.
