Members of Parliament known as the Minority are calling for increased safety measures at sea. They also want better protection for Ghanaians living and working in other countries.
The group expressed these concerns recently. Their statement marked Ghana's 69th Independence Day.
The lawmakers are worried about reported attacks on Ghanaian fishing boats. These incidents are said to be happening within Ghana's own waters.
They believe stronger security is needed to prevent such attacks. This would help protect fishermen and their livelihoods.
The Minority also mentioned the safety of Ghanaians abroad. They specifically pointed to citizens working in the Gulf region.
They want assurances that these citizens are adequately protected.
The call highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of Ghanaians both domestically and internationally.
