The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, stated that stopping the smuggling of food is important.

He explained that bringing food illegally from neighbouring countries hurts Ghana's own food production.

Mr Dumelo said that putting a stop to these activities will make local farms stronger.

This will also encourage Ghanaians to choose local products over imported ones.

He hopes this will build a more self-sufficient food system in the country.
