A man detained at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for nearly five months has been freed. Emmanuel Etroo could not leave the hospital because of an unpaid medical bill.

The outstanding amount owed was GH¢39,000. This debt kept him at the Sekondi facility for an extended period.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, intervened in the situation. He paid the full medical bill for Mr. Etroo.

Minister Nelson also promised to provide an additional GH¢11,000. This money is intended to support Mr. Etroo's ongoing medical needs.

The release of Mr. Etroo highlights the challenges faced by individuals unable to afford medical treatment.

This intervention ensures Mr. Etroo can now receive necessary care outside the hospital setting.
