Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has stated that it is legally possible to try and withdraw money from a bank account that has been frozen.
Kpebu explained that the act of attempting the withdrawal itself is not illegal.
However, he cautioned that such a transaction would not be successful. This is because the account is under restrictions due to it being frozen.
Kpebu made these comments in relation to the arrest of Hannan.
He clarified the legal standing of actions taken concerning frozen assets.
