The Institute for Energy Security (IES) is asking the government to pause the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy. This is because global oil prices are increasing.

IES stated that suspending the levy would help ease the financial pressure on consumers. The levy is added to the price of fuel at the pump.

The rising cost of fuel internationally is making petroleum products more expensive for Ghanaians.

By removing the levy, the IES believes the government can provide some relief to citizens.

The institute made this call following a surge in global oil prices.
