Ghanaian peacekeepers deployed in southern Lebanon have been attacked. The incident has drawn a strong reaction from the government.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a government spokesperson, spoke about the attack on Saturday. He emphasized that those serving as peacekeepers are non-combatants.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that no country or group should be allowed to attack such personnel with impunity. He stressed the importance of holding those responsible accountable.

The Ghanaian soldiers are part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon UNIFIL.

The spokesperson did not reveal further details about the attack or the identity of the attackers.

He urged international bodies and nations to ensure the safety of peacekeepers who are dedicated to maintaining stability in conflict zones.
