Four Ghanaian soldiers serving in southern Lebanon with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon UNIFIL have been injured. The soldiers were hurt during an attack on a peacekeeping position.

The government confirmed the incident and provided an update on the soldiers condition. Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi stated that four of the injured soldiers have minor wounds.

These four are reported to be in stable condition and are recovering. However, one soldier sustained more serious injuries.

This soldier is currently undergoing surgery to treat their wounds. The seriousness of the injuries was not further detailed.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon UNIFIL is a peacekeeping mission. It was established by the UN Security Council to confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.
