Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the ongoing hostile acts against foreign nationals in South Africa. The ministry has asked Ghanaians to remain calm and not carry out any retaliatory actions. This includes targeting South African businesses based in Ghana.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, met with South Africa's Acting High Commissioner, Mr. Thando Dalamba. The meeting addressed the serious xenophobic violence occurring in South Africa.
The Ghanaian government expressed deep concern over the safety of its citizens living in South Africa. It urged South Africa to ensure the protection of all foreign nationals.
Minister Ablakwa stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between nations. He emphasized that Ghana stands for these principles.
Ghanaians were advised to exercise restraint and not engage in any acts that could worsen relations between the two countries. The Ministry is monitoring the situation and will provide updates.
