The government of Ghana has officially complained to the United Nations about a missile attack targeting its soldiers in Lebanon. Two Ghanaian peacekeepers were seriously hurt in the incident.
The attack occurred in southern Lebanon. Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, issued a statement on March 7. He expressed Ghana’s demand for a thorough investigation.
Ghanaian peacekeepers are part of a United Nations mission. This mission works to maintain peace in a troubled region.
The Foreign Minister stated that Ghana wants to understand who was responsible for firing the missiles. He stressed that such actions against peacekeepers are unacceptable.
Ghana expects the United Nations to take strong steps. This is to ensure the safety of all peacekeepers serving under the UN flag. Ghana believes justice must be served for its injured soldiers.
