Ghana is marking its 69th Independence Day today, March 6, 2026. The main celebration is happening at the Jubilee House.

This historic day remembers when Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana free from British rule on March 6, 1957.

The tradition of rotating the celebration venue began in 2017. President Akufo-Addo announced that each region would host the event annually.

This year's event is being held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House.

The anniversary is a time for national reflection and commemoration of Ghana's journey as a sovereign nation.

Activities are planned to honor the country's past and look towards its future.
