A leading cocoa farmer has asked for help to protect Ghana's important cocoa farming business. He believes action must be taken quickly.

The farmer, identified as Alex Marfo, also known as Boboo, suggested that COCOBOD, the body that manages cocoa, and local chiefs must work together. He stressed the need for these groups to support the industry.

Marfo was recognized as the Overall Best Farmer for the Atwima Kwanwoma District in 2011. His plea comes amid concerns over the state of cocoa farming.

He pointed out that damage to cocoa farms is a serious threat. This destruction harms Ghana's ability to produce cocoa beans.

The situation also affects people living in rural areas. Their work depends on cocoa farming for their income and way of life.

Furthermore, the national economy relies on the revenue generated from cocoa exports. Damage to the industry means less money for the country.

Marfo feels that collective effort is needed to reverse the negative trends. He believes COCOBOD and traditional authorities have the power to make a difference.

His call emphasizes the economic and social importance of the cocoa sector. Protecting it is seen as crucial for Ghana's future.
