Ambassador Dr. Ben Owusu, who is the AU Agenda 2063 Special Envoy to Ghana, has spoken out against the xenophobic attacks occurring in South Africa.

He described the events as deeply troubling and harmful to the spirit of unity across Africa.

Ambassador Owusu explained that these attacks represent a grave threat to the vision of a united and prosperous Africa that is being built.

He called the violence a painful betrayal of the Pan-African ideal. This ideal promotes brotherhood and cooperation among all African nations.

The envoy emphasized that such actions undermine the collective efforts towards achieving the goals set out in Agenda 2063.

Agenda 2063 is the African Union's long-term development plan for the continent.
