A private security guard has been apprehended by law enforcement officials for his alleged involvement in the theft of a vehicle belonging to a customer at a commercial bank. Reports from 3News indicate that the suspect was stationed at the financial institution when the incident occurred. The Ghana Police Service has not yet released the full identity of the suspect publicly as investigations continue into the security breach.

According to a report by MyJoyOnline, the suspect allegedly managed to obtain a duplicate key to the vehicle during a previous visit by the owner. The original report from 3News states that the car was driven out of the bank parking lot while the owner was conducting business inside the branch. Security footage from the premises reportedly aided the police in identifying the individual responsible for the unauthorized removal of the car.

Preliminary investigations cited by Citi Newsroom suggest that the suspect had been monitoring the movements of the vehicle owner for several weeks prior to the theft. The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the stolen vehicle was tracked to a location in the Greater Accra Region where it was being prepared for sale. Officers from the regional command conducted the arrest and recovered the vehicle without further incident.

The management of the bank told 3News that they are cooperating fully with the police investigation and have reviewed their third party security protocols. The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before a circuit court once formal charges of theft and conspiracy are finalized. Authorities have urged bank customers to remain vigilant regarding their car keys and personal belongings when visiting high traffic commercial areas.
