The Ghana Police Service recovered more than 100 tonnes of stolen ECG cables in Tema. The cables belonged to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
The recovery happened during a police operation at a company in Tema. Officers found a significant quantity of the stolen cables.
Ten suspects were arrested at the scene. They are currently in police custody.
Around 70 workers were actively engaged in cutting and stripping the stolen cables when police arrived.
The specific value of the recovered cables is still being determined.
The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department confirmed the recovery.
Further investigations are underway to identify all individuals involved in the theft and processing of the cables.
This operation is part of efforts to combat the increasing theft of public utility infrastructure.
