Members of the Central Regional Police Command conducted an operation in Kasoa that resulted in the arrest of five men suspected of working as land guards. According to a report by MyJoyOnline the dawn raid followed numerous complaints from residents who alleged that the group used violence to seize private estates and commercial lands. Citifmonline reports that the suspects allegedly targeted developers and homeowners who refused to pay illegal fees for ongoing construction projects.
The police team recovered several items during the sweep including sharp cutlasses and other weapons described as offensive tools in official reports. A GhanaWeb update notes that the regional command monitored the group for several days before moving in to make the arrests. Police spokespersons indicated that the weapons will be used as evidence in future court proceedings to establish the intent of the suspects during their stay on the disputed properties.
Witnesses told Daily Guide that the group frequently intimidated residents by brandishing weapons and blocking access to construction sites. These accounts suggest that the suspects operated primarily in the areas of Kasoa Millennium City and surrounding neighborhoods. While the names of the individuals have not been officially released the Central Regional Police Command confirmed that they are being processed for charges related to conspiracy and assault.
Legal proceedings are expected to begin at the Kasoa District Court once preliminary investigations are concluded. The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement urging members of the public to report any land guard activities to the nearest station rather than engaging in physical confrontations. The service maintains its commitment to dismantling criminal groups that threaten property rights and public safety in the Central Region.
