The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has demolished over 500 wooden structures. The demolition took place at the Bayakasua slum. This area is behind the COCOBOD building in Kumasi.

The structures were described as a den for criminals. The assembly acted to clear the area.

The demolition exercise was carried out by the KMA. No injuries were reported during the operation.

The KMA has not yet released a statement on the specific reasons for the demolition beyond clearing the criminal den.

Residents of the affected area were asked to vacate the premises before the demolition.

The area is now cleared of the wooden structures. Further plans for the site have not been announced.
