A fire outbreak has destroyed multiple shops and some residential properties at Srodae in Koforidua, Eastern Region. Firefighters responded to a distress call late Saturday night and managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures. The fire destroyed various items including personal care products, electronics, clothing, and building materials. The intensity of the fire caused structural damage to the building, leading to the collapse of the first floor and partial collapse of the ground floor. The area has been cordoned off due to safety concerns. Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Separately, police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly stealing from one of the burning shops during the incident, according to the Eastern Regional Police Command. The suspect is in custody and will face legal action.
