Police in the Volta Region have arrested two men. They are Kwabena Osei and Yaw Asante.
The arrests occurred as the men allegedly tried to bring dried cannabis into the Akuse Prisons. This happened on May 14, 2026.
Officers at the prison entrance found the drugs during a routine search. The two suspects were immediately detained.
A Ghana Police Service statement confirmed the incident. The statement said the cannabis was seized by the arresting officers.
Both individuals have been taken into custody. They are assisting the police with their investigation into the attempted smuggling.
The Akuse Prisons is a correctional facility under the Ghana Prisons Service.
