A food vendor in Kumasi has been sent to prison for 20 days. Kande Seidu was found to be using open fire in the Alabar Market.

The order against open fire use was made by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly KMA. This action is meant to improve safety and hygiene in public spaces.

The District Court Two at Prempeh Assembly Hall heard the case. Her Worship Deborah Gyawa Donkor presided over the court session.

The prosecutor presented the case against the vendor. Kande Seidu was therefore convicted of violating the KMA’s order.

The court found her guilty of the offense. She was sentenced on Monday, March 16, 2026.
