A 67-year-old food vendor, Ama Forson, has been freed from prison. She was wrongly convicted of possessing narcotic drugs.

Madam Forson was sentenced to 11 years in prison. She served four years and seven months of that sentence.

The Accra High Court has now acquitted and discharged her. This means she is no longer considered guilty of the crime.

Her release was made possible by the POS Foundation. The foundation runs an In-Prison Paralegal Programme.

This program trains inmates to help themselves and others with legal matters. It played a key role in reviewing Madam Forson's case.

Madam Forson will receive GH¢20,000 in support. This financial aid is intended to help her restart her life.

The case highlights issues within the justice system. It shows how wrongful convictions can occur and the impact they have.

The POS Foundation continues its work to support vulnerable individuals in the justice system.
