A total of 21 inmates who were on remand have been granted bail at the Tamale Central Prison.

This action was taken under the Justice for All Programme.

The purpose of this program is to help decongest prisons and give more people access to justice.

A special court session was held inside the prison for this purpose.

During the session, judges reviewed 37 applications from inmates seeking bail.

Of these, 21 applications were successful, leading to the release of the inmates.

The Judicial Service organised the court sitting to address the situation of pre-trial detainees.

This initiative helps ensure that individuals aren't kept in jail longer than necessary while awaiting trial.
