The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that eight Ghanaian citizens died in a recent terrorist attack. The attack happened in Titao, located in northern Burkina Faso. This information was confirmed in a press release from the Ministry.

The incident occurred on February 14, 2026. Seven of the victims were members of the Ghana National Tomatoes Traders and Transporters Association. They were on a trip for their business when the attack took place.

An eighth Ghanaian national also died in the same attack. This person was not identified as a member of the traders' association.

Following this tragic event, the Ghanaian government has issued new travel guidelines. These guidelines advise citizens about the risks of traveling to northern Burkina Faso. The updated advice aims to keep Ghanaians safe from similar dangers.

The Ministry urged all citizens to be careful and follow the new travel advisories. They also asked Ghanaians to report any suspicious activities to local authorities or the Ghanaian embassy.
