The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 26 year old man, Fuseini Ibrahim, in Tamale in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a young woman who was reportedly held captive for four days. The arrest followed a police report made at about 9:00 a.m. on December 26, 2025, concerning the disappearance of Haruna Adamu.
According to police accounts, the alleged kidnapping took place at Dalogu Yili, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis. Acting on the report, the Inspector General of Police’s Special Operations Team was deployed to the area. The team, led by Chief Inspector Abdullai Tahiru, located the suspect and rescued the victim without any reported resistance or injuries.
Police said the suspect was arrested at the scene and later handed over to the Northern Regional Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation. The victim was subsequently reunited with her parents. Authorities have not disclosed whether formal charges have been filed against the suspect at this stage, and investigations are ongoing. Police have stated that the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
In a related development, the Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers in separate operations within the Tamale Metropolis during the Christmas period. The suspects were identified as Ziyad Inusah and Majid Fuseini. Their arrests were carried out by the same IGP Special Operations Team during routine festive patrols.
Police said the patrols involved 105 personnel deployed in 10 vehicles to crime prone areas across Tamale. During the operations, quantities of suspected opioids were seized from one of the suspects. The police have not specified the type or quantity of the substances, and laboratory analysis is expected as part of ongoing investigations.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said the operations form part of a broader festive season security strategy aimed at protecting lives and property while clamping down on drug peddling and other criminal activities. Police have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
