Police and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly have seized a large quantity of fish. The operation took place at the Tema port.

Several tonnes of fish were impounded. These fish are considered unwholesome and unsafe for people to eat.

Officials believe the fish were brought into the country without proper checks. This action was taken to protect public health.

The Ghana Police Service stated the operation was part of continued efforts to ensure food safety.

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly confirmed the seized items pose a significant health hazard.

Further investigations are underway to determine the origin and full extent of the illegal import.

Authorities are working to prevent such items from entering the market.
